Artisanal Bakery
We are a small artisanal bakery, stocking a range of products from freshly baked artisanal breads to locally produced cheeses and preserves! We have two stores in the Eastern Cape, one located in Kenton-on-Sea, and the other located in Grahamstown.
The BAKERY provides freshly prepared bakery and pastry products on a daily basis. The BAKERY starts baking at 4:30am.
Typical opening hours are:
KENTON ON SEA
8am – 1:30pm Monday to Saturday, closed most Sunday*.
GRAHAMSTOWN
8am – 3pm Monday to Friday, 8am – 1:30pm Saturday, closed Sunday.
*During peak season and busy periods our Kenton Bakery is open on a Sunday. Check our social media accounts for notifications.
Over the December holiday period our Kenton Bakery is open from 8am – 4:30pm everyday. Our Grahamstown Bakery is closed over this period until the university opens.
We also feel strongly that ‘you are what you eat’ and, as a result, we go out of our way to ensure that our products are chemical and preservative free. Many of our modern food intolerances are the result of eating foods that are cheaply or incorrectly processed to provide for the masses, and filled with chemicals and preservatives. We believe in going right back to basics: slow food, naturally grown, baked, cooked, dried or preserved full of flavour and nutrients.

Ciabatta:
What is Ciabatta?
/tʃəˈbɑːtə/ – a flattish, oblong bread with a moist interior and a crispy crust.
It’s named after the shape which resembles a ‘slipper’. We also have an olive option available.
Seed Loaf:
What is a Seed Loaf?
A nutty flavoured health bread packed with oats and seeds. Makes an amazing slice of toast the next morning!
100% Rye:
How do we make our rye bread?
Made from a fermented batter-like dough starter used to make the bread rise slowly over an extended period of time. It has a crispy crust with a soft, flavourful interior.
Nuts & Date Banana Loaf
What is a Banana Loaf?
This banana loaf is packed with taste and goodness. Excellent bread made with wholemeal flour, unrefined sugar, nuts & dates.
Baguette
What is a Baguette?
A traditional long narrow French bread with crusty exterior and soft white interior. Literally = a small rod /stick. Great for sandwiches or sliced as an accompaniment for any meal.
